Without financial support AMADO cannot fulfill its mission of empowering special-needs children and giving them a fighting chance in our society. AMADO’s objectives are to provide one on one therapy, concentrating on the child’s strengths and finding a way to add quality to the lives of these previously disadvantaged children. AMADO aims to teach these children skills, not only to better their lives, but also to make their futures brighter.
Potential funders sponsor one (or more) child at R5000 per child annually. The sponsor chooses his or her child out of 40 portfolios of children needing the therapy. Apply here to sponsor a special-needs child
AMADO is not an average horse riding centre, it is much more. The children who we help all receive individual attention using real therapeutic methods tailored to each child’s individual needs. Positive reinforcements are of vital importance to all of us at AMADO. The children feel important and obtain a sense of self-worth. When you struggle to bath yourself, but you can stop a 400kg horse, that’s self confidence that is priceless!
We appoint carers to look after the remaining children in an educationally stimulating environment while lessons are given with one child at a time to boost self-esteem and to make them feel very special.
We aim to see 40 children a week for half hour sessions, giving each child two hours of riding per month. We work closely in conjunction with occupational therapists, psychologists and physiotherapists. After every session a report is compiled for future reference. AMADO aims to identify children with a real passion for riding and horses and then to take these children further by finding work for them in the
equine industry.
We truly hope you can see how serious we are about AMADO and the benefits it holds for the children of the previously (and still?) disadvantaged community.
